Weekend Recap: April 2-3

One of the main reasons I started this blog was to journal about our everyday lives. One day, I know I will want to remember “way back when”. So, as I’m sitting here after a walk with Jason in the beautiful warm sunshine, I realized that I haven’t done a weekend recap for either of the past two weekends! On Friday, April 1st, Jason and I had a low key evening together and he did some last minute packing for his trip to Ecuador the next morning. On Saturday, we both woke up bright and early to drop him off at church at 7:30am! Then, the group loaded up their bus and headed to the Atlanta airport. More about his trip in an upcoming post.

So, there I was, all alone on a beautiful Saturday! I didn’t really know what to do with myself at first since Jason had done a lot of cleaning for me on Friday – so I wouldn’t be left will all the preparation for our Masters renters.   When I got back home, I realized that I had nothing on the agenda, so I decided to start reading the Birth Order Book. It is a super interesting book, and is surprisingly true in a lot of ways. I definitely learned a lot about my own family dynamics. The book also talks about how your birth order affects marriage and even your work- but I haven’t gotten that far yet.

After a little bit of reading, I decided to do lay down on the couch with my favorite micro-fiber blanket. The next thing I knew, it was almost 11:00am! It is kinda funny because I always give Jason a hard time about taking naps, and that’s the first thing I did when he left! So after that, I decided to go run some errands around town. This was kind of weird since I am so used to Jason being with me all the time for that sort of thing. I went to the usual places, Wal-mart, Target, and also stopped by Old Navy and Best Buy. I even got my car washed and vacuumed out all the pine straw that we had left in it the week before. One of my favorite time wasters is reading magazines while in line at the supermarket. So this time, I spent about an hour reading a People Magazine special about William and Kate’s upcoming Royal Wedding- I can’t wait to watch!

After that, I came home, made some cookies for my time at the Lake House, packed for my week away from home, and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned! During my cleaning frenzy, and actually through the whole weekend, I had either music on or the TV on, it was just too quiet without Jason here! Luckily the Country Music Awards were on, so that entertained me a bit, and I was happy to see that Taylor Swift won the entertainer of the year!

On Monday and Tuesday of that week, I stayed with our friends Angelyn and Michael and had lots of fun doing P90X workouts, eating delicious food, hanging out with her older brother Steven – who is getting married this summer in Brazil, and had time for some fun girl talk. On Monday, I also went with my friend Mary Beth to the Masters Mayor Reception, where I snapped this photo with one of my new favorite Apps – Instagram. You must check it out! It basically lets you take photos with your smartphone, change the coloring and texture of it, and send it out via Facebook or Twitter. Lots of fun!

Until next time…
