How to Make a Cheap Red Berry Wreath

Jason and I enjoyed a snow day yesterday, complete with no school and no work! We had lots of fun being “snowed-in” here in Augusta. We got lots of organizing done, played in the ice and snow a bit, and I even got a chance to do a long awaited project – making my very own red berry wreath.

I have wanted a red berry wreath since last year, and was sad to discover that pre-Christmas they were selling for a whopping $50 at most stores! I thought I would just be patient and wait until after Christmas sales, until I discovered this (gold berry wreath) post on one of my favorite blogs.

So how did I do it? Well first, we loaded up on some red berry picks and a grapevine wreath after Christmas last year. I think I got everything for about $10-15. Then, a whole year later, I got my very first hot glue gun – is it odd to be excited about this? – and went to town on my wreath. First I took all the tags off the picks, then I placed them in the wreath (more like shoved them into place in between the grapevine wreath branches). Finally, after a little bit of rearranging, I put a line of hot glue down the stem and wedged it right where it was before – applying a little bit of pressure to make it stick.

Here’s some photos followed by my very own how-to video filmed by Jason on my new Flip Video Camera!

Here’s the picks ready to go…

Here’s the wreath mid-process, and completed on the wall!

Sorry for the snow-day clothing/no-make-up/messy house!

Overall, I’m very happy with how my first hot-glued wreath turned out! Have any of your recently tried any after-Christmas-sale crafts or projects? Please share!

P.S. Thanks to my newly-found linky parties for spreading this post around the blogosphere!
