2nd Trimester with Baby #2

How Far Along? Picture is 26 Weeks, Now I’m 28 Weeks
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +18 pounds at 28 Weeks

Baby Related Purchases: Bought a “Bridget” name sign to put in the nursery. I found it on Etsy. I was glad I ordered as early as I did since it will take about 4-6 weeks to make and then 1-2 weeks to ship!

No – her name isn’t Abigail, this is just the example pic from Etsy… ๐Ÿ™‚

I LOVED creepers from Carters when Lucy was little since they were so easy to get on and off when she was so little and delicate. So I purchased a few of them for Bridget on Presidents Day. Carters had an amazing sale that was 50% off plus an additional 20%!
Stretch marks: Let’s hope not!
Sleep: I really can’t complain. Sleeping with my Snoogle as always. I think I wake up so much because I love to drink water right before I go to bed and also drink water every time I wake up.
Movement: I feel kicks every day and they are getting stronger and stronger. Kicks are so reassuring for me that I never mind them, even if she decides to kick the most when I’m trying to go to sleep!
What I miss: I miss being able to wear normal clothes. I am SOOOO over winter weather and clothes I can’t even explain it. I can’t zip up my jackets anymore which feels really weird – I ALWAYS zip up my jackets, so I just feel ginormous whenever I have to walk around with my jacket open. My winter pregnancy wardrobe is pretty pathetic but luckily my sister lent me her clothes, so it has increased in variety. However, I’ve discovered I’m really picky about how my clothes fit and feel, and I don’t really like skin tight clothes. So even though there are lots of shirts for me to choose from, I end up wearing the same ones over and over that I like the fit/feel of. My poor husband… I’ve decided that working from home + being pregnant is a really good recipe for dressing like a bum. Also, the nursery workers I’m sure have figured out by now that I wear the same outfit more than one day in a row :(.  I also miss being able to move around easily. In order to pick something up off of the ground I have to position my legs really far apart lol.
Cravings: Recently my cravings have included Skittles (I buy the large bag from the grocery store now…), cereal and milk (this is my nightly after dinner snack), and potatoes in all forms (potato chips, french fries, baked potatoes, etc.)
Anything making you queasy or sick: No, I have felt fine since about 16 or 17 weeks!
Gender: Girl! Bridget Ruth Baareman
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: The last two days my back started really hurting after doing the dishes. I feel huge. Sometimes I can feel muscles in my stomach stretching out.
Belly Button In or Out? About half and half right now. Lucy thinks it looks hilarious, she points and laughs at it! How’s that for humiliating?! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, this weekend Jason and I are going to Myrtle Beach for a marriage conference  – a gift from his parents for our 5 year anniversary! Here’s a reason to be happy, my 20 week ultrasound (seems like light years ago) went great. Here are some of the pics!

Worries: Trying not to worry and put my trust in the Lord. Lucy doesn’t seem to be worried at all and has poked or jabbed me in the stomach many times. Poor baby sister is going to come out all bruised! My most recent big worry moment was this time around 25 weeks when I decided to try the monkey bars out at the playground (don’t ask…) As soon as I was hanging up there I realized it was a bad idea and hopped down to the ground a tad too hard. Luckily they were built for children so I probably only dropped 1-2 feet, but it felt like a hard pound on the ground and had me worried about the baby. Needless to say I spent the rest of the day Googling things like “jumping while pregnant” and discovered that as long as I didn’t go into preterm labor it was probably okay.
Best moments this week: We went to Atlanta last weekend to celebrate L and Little S’s birthdays. Little S also got baptized so we got to be there for that on Sunday. On Saturday we went out to dinner with my parents and Ben and Kristen to the Iberian Pig, a fancy tapas place in Decatur. The food was delicious, I just felt bad that I was eating more than my fair share of all the shared plates on the table! I think the only thing that could have improved my dinner experience was some wine. On Sunday we went to Pappasitos. I was so eager to have Pappassitos that I didn’t even mind the 1 hour wait! Truly astonishing!
Looking forward to: Weekend with Jason in Myrtle Beach, decorating Lucy’s big girl room (this will have to wait until after the Master’s Renters).

Size of Baby: This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She’s sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby’s brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning โ€” with a lot of medical help โ€” if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don’t bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

  1. First of all, YAY for a Baby Bridget update! I cannot wait to see a picture of the sign you ordered for her all hung up and looking cute in her nursery! And also can't wait to see more of Lucy's big girl room. I can't believe she is considered a "big girl" now! Hope you and Jason have an amazing getaway together in Myrtle Beach this weekend – sounds like it is much deserved!
