17 Weeks!

How Far Along? 17 weeks yesterday! I really can’t believe we are at 17 weeks already! I found out from my doctor last week that am due on July 1 instead of July 3, so that means I will start doing these posts on Sunday instead.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +3
Baby Related Purchases: I got my first maternity clothes item this week! Last week, I was really hating how my work pants felt so tight. Plus, you can only wear your black leggings so many days in a row…so I thought that it was time to at least see what maternity pants are all about. I don’t really need any tops yet. After trying on tons of pairs of jeans and black pants at Target and Old Navy, I was excited to find one pair that fit me at Old Navy that were marked 50% off! I’m realizing that there is a LOT more selection online than in the stores – at least in Augusta there isn’t much selection, especially in my size. So I might give online shopping a try. Right now, I am scavenging the web and blogs trying to find stuff that I will register for in about 3 weeks after we find out if we are having a boy or girl! Can’t wait! ๐Ÿ™‚
Stretch marks: Nope
Sleep: I get up a LOT more in the middle of the night. Still sleeping okay though.
Movement: Nothing yet!
What I miss: Still alcohol and Diet Coke whenever I want. Running ๐Ÿ™ I decided to cut running out of my exercise regimen since I didn’t think I could slow my running to pace to a pregnancy-safe rate. I know there is a lot of disagreement out there about this topic, but I just feel more comfortable either walking or using the elliptical machine. But I really do miss running, especially when I see else doing my fave form of exercise!
Cravings: This week it was Lemon Bars & Publix Premium Frozen Yogurt – Raspberry – Delicious!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not currently. The only things I remember not being able to stand during the first trimester was soup from a can, cooked spinach, and this chinese shrimp dish I cooked.
Gender: We find out in 3 weeks – Feb. 14th! I really have no idea if it is a boy or a girl. I have no mother’s intuition” or anything like that. I’m just utterly clueless. I have tried a few of those wives tales things online, and about half of them indiciate boy, and half girl – so who knows. Any guesses?
Labor Signs: Hoping that at least another 20 weeks will pass before that happens!
Symptoms: I definitely feel bigger, especially after I eat. Sometimes when I stretch, my side stomach muscles feel tight.
Belly Button In or Out? In
Happy or Moody most of the time:  I think I get stressed out easier. Mainly though I think when you are pregnant, you feel justified when you’re in a bad mood- at least I do. This probably isn’t good!
Worries: That Baby Baareman will be okay despite the fumes explosion that happened today in the Baareman household. We cleaned the house this weekend and I decided to clean the oven. I sprayed oven cleaner in there, that you are supposed to leave in just for over night. Unfortunately, I forgot about it – and after two days passed (tonight), I turned the oven on to make a blueberry crisp (which still hasn’t been made – sigh). Fumes started coming out of the oven and I realized my mistake. Jason started freaking out and opened all the windows and turned on the fan. I turned off the oven, wipes all the cleaner out, and turned on the oven cleaning cycle. But that just made matters worse, and now we are secluded in the office with the window open – freezing, and waiting for the smell to die down!
Best moments this week: I loved the relaxing weekend we had. We had dinner at the Cotton Patch and hung out with the Myers on Friday night. On Saturday we slept in and I spent the morning finished The Hunger Games – LOVED IT! We cleaned the house during the day since it was raining, then we went to Kohl’s, BabiesRUs (to look at some stuff I want to register for), and then had dinner at Guiseppes. After that, we went to Walmart to get some random stuff and finished the night off at Barnes and Noble. On Sunday, we went to church in the morning and the evening for small group training – but got to relax at home in the afternoon.
Looking forward to: Gender reveal! on Feb. 14th – any guesses?
Size of Baby: About the size of a turnip.

What Baby’s Up To: (from BabyCenterYour baby’s skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord โ€” her lifeline to the placenta โ€” is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she’s around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop. Body fat (baby’s, that is) is beginning to form and will continue to accumulate through the end of your pregnancy.  By the time your baby is born, body fat will make up about two-thirds of his or her weight. Your baby is almost certainly listening up by now. In fact, loud noises โ€” the dog barking, the doorbell ringing โ€” will actually startle your baby (and also get him or her used to such noises; for instance, fetuses who regularly hear a dog barking will become babies who sleep right through Fido’s outbursts).  Your baby’s eyes (which have fortunately finished their migration  to the front of his or her head) are making small side-to-side movements and can even perceive some light, though the eyelids are still sealed.  And since practice makes perfect, your baby is sharpening his or her sucking and swallowing skills too. In fact, most of the survival reflexes that your baby will have at birth are being perfected in utero right now.
