18 Weeks

How Far Along? 18 Weeks as of Sunday.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +6!!!!! The weight gain has started to come on strong. I really can’t understand this. I thought that in order to gain like 3 pounds in one week, I’d be eating like non-stop! Unfortunately, this hasn’t been the case. I mean, yes of course I’ve been eating a little bit more, but there is NO way that I have eaten enough to have gained that much in one week. What’s weirder, is that earlier in the pregnancy, I’d step on the scale absolutely convinced I had gained a few pounds, and I hadn’t gained an ounce. I guess you can just add “weight gain” to to the list of things I don’t understand about pregnancy!
Baby Related Purchases: Two more pairs of maternity pants from Motherhood Maternity. This is the only completely maternity store that I have found in Augusta. Jason and I were pleasantly surprised with the clothes (they weren’t all ugly – some were actually cute!), the customer service, and the price tags! I got one pair of jeans and one pair of work pants in a light khaki color. For tops, I been wearing some long tanks from target and all the longer cardigans that I already own (but have never worn so much!) I can not wait until Feb. 14th when we find out the gender and I can run to buy our baby its first outfit! My mom also sent me two books that I have started reading. These are more to help AFTER the baby is born.

Stretch marks: Nope
Sleep: I get up a LOT more in the middle of the night. Still sleeping okay though.
Movement: I think that I felt the baby move for the first time a few days ago! Of course, I’ve been trying to see if I feel anything for the past few weeks, but one night right after bed, I put my hand on my stomach and felt a few little movements from the outside (I didn’t feel the butterflies or movement from the inside that others have described). Here’s hoping I feel more kicks (and harder ones) soon!
What I miss: Hot tubs and Margaritas – not sure that I have ever experienced this euphoric combo, but I started thinking this week that I would love it right about now!
Cravings: Pigged out on hot buttery rolls at O’Charley’s this week with friends. And one night I really felt like Chick-Fil-A Chicken Strips on a salad. But other than that – all food is good to me.
Anything making you queasy or sick: No – SO THANKFUL for this!
Gender: Find out in two weeks! Still trying to decide on a name. We have it narrowed down, but I’m not sure if I’m confident enough to share it with the world, or if we should give it a little bit of time still.
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Gaining LOTS of weight. Seems like every time I step on the scale, I have gained a pound! Crazy!
Belly Button In or Out? In
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Before I was pregnant, it was pretty much known in my family that I have about zero patience about eating when I am hungry. This is often why I can’t cook when i’m too hungry – because I will eat during the entire time that I’m cooking – then, when the food is cooked – I’m full! Well, now that I’m pregnant, the hunger pangs have been even more strong – as in diving into fries while they are still handing them to us over the Chick-Fil-A counter. haha.
Worries: This week I been thinking a lot (not so much worrying) about financially caring for our future child. What about childcare? What about paying off student debt while dealing with new costs associated with babies? The list goes on and on… still trusting God though. I know he has a perfect plan for us – just can’t wait to see it unfold! ๐Ÿ™‚
Best moments this week: Started Friday off with a bike-ride around our neighborhood, then dinner with Michael and Angelyn at O’Charley’s topped off with Dairy Queen blizzards! On Saturday, we relaxed in the morning, I went to the gym (still feeling the effects of serious weight lifting for the first time in months!), ran errands, went the mall, then ended the day with the MAU annual party at the Marriott – which was super fun and involved a live band, good food, and dancing! On Sunday, we had our transition Sunday where about 4-5 couples were added to our Sunday School class at Warren Baptist Church! That night, we had pizza and game night with some friends – also lots of fun!
Looking forward to: Gender reveal! on Feb. 14th – any guesses? I’m like 50/50 right now.
Size of Baby: About the size of a bell pepper or sweet potato.

What Baby’s Up To: (from BabyCenter
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He’s busy flexing his arms and legs โ€” movements that you’ll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they’re still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he’s born. If you’re having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you’re having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
