24 Weeks

Ewww- pic isn’t that great this week…sorry!

How Far Along? 24 Weeks as of Sunday
Total Weight Gain/Loss: +13 – always about 1 lb. per week.
Baby Related Purchases: We got Lucy’s quilt in the mail this week! Here are some pics I just snapped with my iphone – these should serve as a color guide for the rest of the room.

The crib is still in our shed – waiting until we sell this couch on Craigslist to free up space in the office.
I think we’ve decided on purchasing this dresser from Ikea to store lots of baby stuff and also be our changing table.

Stretch marks: Don’t think so
Sleep: I can fall asleep fine, I wake up at least once in the middle of the night, an sometimes my back hurts at night which can cause me to stay up longer.
Movement: Feeling more and more movement every day! It is getting stronger than it was at first.
What I miss: My former smallness and flexibility. I was trying to reach for something in the backseat yesterday and realized that I couldn’t move very well, stretch very far, move very quickly, etc.
Cravings: Is it weird that I eat popcorn in the morning at work a lot? Maybe that’s a craving. I’ve also had a fair amount of Chick-fil-a Spicy Chicken Salads.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!
Gender: Girl!
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: My back hurts at night when I’m sitting down – which can be a little annoying – but I won’t complain!
Belly Button In or Out? In – but getting a lot shallower! I think having an “outie” belly button is going to be really weird!
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Really happy recently that some of my friends have announced pregnancies! YAY!!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
Worries: Not to worried this week, although I was kind of uncomfortable picking up the lawnmower to get it into the car to take to the repair guy. We are having problems with that thing and it needs to get fixed!
Best moments this week: On Friday night, we hung out with Michael and Angelyn – she made spinach lasagna rolls, salad, and bread – all delicious. We brought over an easy dessert of break and bake cookies, ice cream, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce to make sundaes. They were amazing! We looked at some of the houses they are considering buying when they move for residency – we are sad they are leaving! I love looking at houses, so it was lots of fun. On Saturday, we ran a bunch of errands – returned some maternity clothes that I had bought online that didn’t work out (i.e. were not as cute in person as online…), and got some other clothes instead. I got some awesome maternity leggings from Target that are really comfy. We also decided to have a garage sale and started going through stuff to get rid of. We took a few boxes of books to 2nd and Charles and got $30 back = sweet! That night, we had another delicious dinner with Mary Beth and James. They made gnocchi with pesto cream sauce and we brought over some spinach strawberry salad. Good times! On Sunday, Jason taught Sunday School, worked on a school project, and I worked on a website for a friend. That evening, because of the time change (which made us exhausted the entire day), we were able to go on a really long bike ride in the glorious warm sunny weather! We talked about the future and all the unknowns facing us right now. Thankfully we have a God who is in control of it all. We are relying on Him to guide us during the next few months to the plan He has for our lives.
Looking forward to: My doctor’s appointment tomorrow. I’m excited to have made it to 24 weeks – which is often called the “Viability” week. It is crazy that between weeks 24 and 27, the baby’s chance of survival increases from 40% to 90%.

Size of Baby: Approx. the size of a grapfruit.
What Baby’s Up To: (from BabyCenter)Your baby’s growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he’s almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he’ll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
